WhatsApp recently announced that they are going to share some user data including phone number to it’s parent company Facebook.
Why they are doing this ?
- To improve Facebook Ads and Product experience.
- Maybe, to help us find new friends.
That’s what they officially say. Here is the dark side.
The main reason is that they can bargain with the big businesses saying that they have more Rich user data than Google. (Google collects data for Ads by analysing what a user search for and other parameters ) Rich User data means more potential customers for Advertisers, which means more revenue for Facebook.
WhatsApp has promised that it won’t sell or share that number with advertisers
But if you still think that the idea of putting your phone number where a legion of hungry brands could potentially see it is not good. Then you’ve still got a chance to stop WhatsApp from handing Facebook this new data if you act fast.
Holy Crap, I’ve clicked Agree !
Don’t panic, you’ve still got a chance to stop WhatsApp from handing Facebook this new data if you act fast. You have got 30 days to opt out.
